Music

Music

Through exciting, practical and creative music lessons, we hope at Greenvale to create an environment in which all children develop a love of music. Children have the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings through the exploration of sounds. They listen to and perform music from different historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including reggae, samba and blues, and music from Africa, China and Indonesia.

The music curriculum has been developed to link to the curriculum topics being taught across the school, whilst also enabling the children to develop skills and an understanding of musical vocabulary and concepts.

Music forms an important part of school life at Greenvale: children sing in assemblies and take part in concerts and events throughout the year. We hope that all children will become keen performers and will also enjoy taking part in visiting workshops and extra-curricular activities such as choir and recorder group.
