Geography

At Greenvale, Geography plays a central theme in many of the topics covered.  An important aspect of our topical curriculum is that children have an appreciation of the world in which they live.  Globalisation and development in technology has led to a significant change in the jobs that are now available with many jobs now involving working with people across continents.  It is therefore vital that we provide our children with a deep understanding of geographical concepts and how these impact daily life.

Children are taught geography through a number of core themes, including: locational knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical geography, geographical skills and fieldwork, local geography and sustainability and climate.

Geography topics are enhanced further through local field trips, such as a trip to Brighton to consider features of seaside towns and how these have changed over time.
